Say the name Lin Manuel Miranda and most people will think of his Tony-award winning Broadway shows Hamilton & In the Heights, yet now he's building an impressive resume with Disney. His latest musical project is the animated film Encanto coming out on November 24th, in which he contributes eight songs to the soundtrack. The stars that voice the film include Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, Maluma & Wilmer Valderrama. The film is a colorful look at the diversity of Colombia through the Madrigal family and their magic powers & magical house. The story centers around the magical powers like talking to animals, instant healing powers and shapeshifting, that all the family members have, except for Mirabel. We see the journey of Mirabel, growing up with that acceptance, until one day her family is in trouble and she's determined to save the family's magic. On the outside, it's wonderful to see more Latin representation in animated films, and this colorful and spirited film is one for families to enjoy for generations. As far as the film, this can show us a good lesson on how we treat others because of their skills, and also how those people view themselves. Encanto is a magical experience that celebrates Latin culture, but also gives you everything you want in a Disney movie.
