ARC Music Festival is a Chicago Dance Extravaganza!
The DJs! The Outfits! The Community! ARC Music Festival became the perfect way to bid adieu to summer. From the moment you walked in, you could feel the energy of everyone coming here to dance the night away and this fest had something for everyone.
What struck me first about this fest is the lineup that celebrates the biggest global names, women and house music legends. Let's take a moment to talk about house music legends like Derrick Carter, Mike Dunn, Terry Hunter & Phuture who are known to play the hottest nightclubs, but rarely get festival billing like this in The United States.
Saturday was my day making my way around all 4 stages as much as possible. I kicked off the festivities old school style with Mike Dunn and Terry Hunter, starting off with a chef's kiss in terms of house music. Of course, as much fun as I was having, I couldn't miss The Blessed Madonna. After being named as DJ of the Year by MixMag in 2016, this is an artist I've continued to watch and celebrate.
While I had planned to spend most of my time in the late afternoon at The Blessed Madonna, the tracks that Patrick Topping was spinning made me gravitate toward the main stage. I knew I would be there for Fatboy Slim and John Summit later in the night,, but I had to split my time between the two stages because I wanted to see them both.

The time has come for Fatboy Slim and now we knew the sun was about to set and the light shows and party was about to go into overdrive. Fatboy Slim kicked off his set with his biggest hit Praise You. Once you heard the first few beats of the song, all the 90's club kids in the audience knew this was the moment they felt home. Fatboy Slim mixed and remixed some of his biggest hits as well as an iconic tribute to 90's club anthem Born Slippy and Right Here Right Now featuring Former President Barack Obama.

Now it's time for the moment many have been waiting for and that's the homecoming show for Chicago's own John Summit. The energy of the crowd for John could have lit up the whole city! This is Summit's first headlining Chicago glg at a festival. Thank you ARC Music Festival for making it happen! Cannot wait to return next year. |
