Paddington is back, and this time he's off to Peru! After receiving a letter, the beloved bear rushes from London to South America to reunite with his Aunt Lucy. The whole Brown family joins him on this new adventure, and quickly they discover that Aunt Lucy is lost and must be found.
While we see some familiar faces and voices, there’s a shift behind the scenes: Paul King, the director of the first two Paddington films, now serves as executive producer. Newcomer Dougal Wilson takes the director's chair for this third installment, and fans can feel a shift from the previous two films. There’s also a change in the cast—Sally Hawkins doesn't reprise her role as Mrs. Brown, with Emily Mortimer stepping in. However, fans can rest easy knowing that Ben Whishaw returns as Paddington’s voice, alongside the rest of the Brown family: Hugh Bonneville as Henry, Madeline Harris as Judy, Samuel Joslin as Jonathan, and Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird.

Paddington in Peru continues the charm of the series, offering a heartwarming and adventurous tale of self-discovery. While the first two films centered on Paddington’s antics in London, this third chapter takes him on a more emotional journey to his roots. Though there’s less slapstick humor than before, the film still offers plenty of delightful and laugh-out-loud moments. The blend of humor and heart makes it a perfect watch for both kids and adults. Themes of family, heritage, and belonging are explored beautifully, turning the film into more than just an adventure—it's a touching exploration of identity.
Although the movie sticks to the series' familiar formula, its Peruvian setting adds a fresh layer of excitement and charm. Overall, Paddington in Peru is a delightful and feel-good adventure, striking a perfect balance between humor, heart, and cultural richness. It’s a must-see for fans of the series and newcomers alike. While it might not quite match the magic of the first two films, it's still an enjoyable experience. After waiting several years for this third installment, I’d happily buy a ticket for a fourth!
